XBOX 360 OUT OF MEMORY. NEED HELP PLEASE

So I got the new COD game for my son's birthday today and his 4gb xbox 360 does not have enough storage space for it. I know nothing about these machines so is there a way to increase the storage memory?
Can I just get an external HDD and plug it in somewhere?

It is not connected to the internet and I prefer that it stays that way.

It's black and was made in 2011. Otherwise I don;t know the specs.

Yes or the easy route is to buy a 32gb thumb drive and format it and bam you end up with a 20-25gb hard drive for 15 dollars.. and if you need to control it just take the thumb drive with all saved progress.

Dont buy the 40.00 labeled XBox cause they are exactly what I said above but with a logo...

I'm not how much memory the new COD game requires, but if you go into settings you can have your son delete some saved stuff he has on the 4GB drive like demos, music, etc (just not his saved games!).

Better yet, do what the previous guys just said and get a USB thumb drive...

You can probably get a HDD for it.

If it has a fan on one of the flat (largest-flat) sides, it's a "slim".

You are out of storage (aka semi-permanent storage), not really out of memory, as (RAM, typically called) memory is cleared upon power-off.
