    Pop Ads

I have a HP Envydv7 laptop and I was messing with some settings and now I have pop-up ads coming up all the time (it wasn't like that before). So how do I correct this situation?
I would rather not call HP-support and have them correct it for me.

Edit: I use mostly firefox as my web browser.

    Thanks in advance

Download Ghostery...popups and most ads disappear.

Did you install a program to help tweak these settings? Sounds like you have some adware now, I would run a scan with AntiMalwarebytes and see what shows up.

Check to make sure you haven't installed anything like a search bar from some unscrupulous source. For firefox go to options > content make sure block pop ups enabled. Next Google Adblock plus or Adblock edge they are the same for all intensive purposes and install.

Might not just be settings but actual malware.
In the future I would use chrome and install the adblocker extension for it.

Yeah sounds like malware to me also. It might be cleanable, but I'd be tempted to wipe it and reinstall the OS just to be sure. It's nice to do that once in awhile anyway.

            And +1 for Adblock PLus

Search your app directory. See anything called Conduit?

Run RKill, then EEK, then adwcleaner. Kills everything.

I used this from Norton. Got rid of the adware. Takes a while to scan the harddrive, but it worked. Norton Power Eraser.
