I have noticed that encrypted traffic seems to be throttled these days, on an alternate port of course... MAJORLY.

First it was throttled to about .5MB/sec, now it appears it has dropped even lower to a crippling <.2MB/sec, but I am paying for 15Mbps up, and USED TO get it when I needed to use it.

Has anyone else had this issue, or noticed any throttling issues?

I released my lease, changed my MAC, rebooted router and will see if the situation improves, but it looks bad.

It looks like you are already port forwarding. Have you tried changing ports again to see if there is a change ?

I will run a test on it tonight with encryption on and off and see what happens.

is your delta only for encrypted upload performance or is there a change in upload for unencrypted data? Have you tried doing a test to see if they're throttling ports or if they're QoS'ing traffic based on actual content?

With the death of net neutrality we got the absolute promise that carriers will start to QoS traffic based on what kind of data and the use case.

Hmmm.

In more testing, it doesn't look like Verizon is throttling, but ssh tunnel transfer rates are my issue... in doing some more testing it appears different devices have different max connection speeds, and all tied to maybe *buntu updates that were done.
Changing Subject... Appears to be a Ubuntu derivative ssh tunnel issue, as SFTP transfers seem to be intermittent, and oddly system specific... I just realized this was after bash patches and some updates it slowed down...
(Never was an issue in Slackware... but I lost that drive. *buntu derivatives are a new animal for me, maybe I'll put Slack back on.)

My Win Server 2008 SFTP max d/load rate is like 2.5MB/sec, and my main rig is only pulling and pushing about <2MB/sec... odd. All three (Win server2k8, Win 7 x64, and *buntu derivative are all) on the same gig Ethernet switch with a gig link, but I didn't have any similar issue on any flavor of Slackware... nor on this distro before updating around bash exploit time (I didn't even think about that as being the issue)...

I did a fios to fios SFTP speed test with the same dragging speeds a few days ago, while speedtest.net speeds were kosher to the paid-for-speeds, so I thought it was ISP-related, but does not appear to be with more testing.

The issue appeared after the HDD fried and the new OS trial, but it looks like it might have been bad-capacitor related, the smallest one of the board. I'll have to bring a PS tester home tonight to check it, but luckily I have a spare board (AGP video but it works).

We will do a test later today to check speeds too.
