I know this might sound like that whole "poker night" thread but it's not. That being said, don't hesitate to dismiss this as I personally can't confirm it or physically prove it.
Talking to my personal friend that works in PayPal (he's near or at vice CEO status) I honestly don't remember which. But he told me that PayPal keeps more data on you than Facebook does. They just purchased 6 massive computers (64terabytes of ram each to give you a sense of scale.) Worth about 60,000,000 together. These computers jobs are to keep perfect records on you and create hundreds of risk assessments on you. Yes, they do help with fraud protection, but the invasion of privacy is enormous. PayPal keeps records of what device you use, every website you go to on those devices ect.
Take what you want from this, but at the minimum I wouldn't buy questionable things using PayPal.
