I had figured this would come up at some point. The purpose of this thread was really a show and tell. The application needs a lot more work before I would even consider letting it leave my hands.

I'm not doing anything that any search engine is out there doesn't already do. Basically indexing the site. What I am doing over what search engines do is normalization specifically focused at the classified ads.

I did think that the data mining I am doing maybe of interest to the CGF though.

I'll send him a message and see what he says. I'll halt the project if there is a problem.

I understand it is the early stages, but I don't want you to "get in trouble" or waste your time if he isn't cool with it...

Also, if you ever need a beta tester, let me know.

Wow, this is really cool Skyler76. A wallet killer for sure, but this would be an excellent tool that a lot of members here (me included) would be very interested in. Thanks very much for sharing!

cool app but the problem is that the marketplace is 98% overpriced
this would have really helped pre-2008

well sent him a msg, no response. I'll continue development until I hear otherwise. Not doing anything that search engines don't already do.

Great idea. Anything that can make searching the <classifieds/site/etc.> more efficient would be a winner.

Maybe a web app? Then it'd work well on any desktop, and might work well enough on phones/tablets. Of course, that'd mean maintaining a server.

Servers are a lot easier to maintain than desktop applications imo. A Web app will defeat the purpose of the real time nature of the application. I may expose the querying part on the Web though.
