I need a nanny cam recommendation

So my grandmother is in a convalescent hospital after suffering a stroke. The other day she asked my mother to bring her a bracelet her best friend gave her over 60 years ago. Yesterday when my mother looked in her drawer it was gone. Today she was missing some change. I am super pissed right now. My grandmother is almost completely blind, they could be stealing from her while she is sitting right there.

Anyway I need a camera to catch whoever is stealing her things. It has to either be hidden already or small enough I can hide it in something myself and it needs to record at least 12-24 hours of video. Any recommendations? I found some small cameras but they either have a large box attached to record to which would make it difficult to hide or they are wireless but they don't record and I would need a separate receiver that I would have to hide nearby. Am I missing something?

The "psychic" was going to heal her and bring wealth and good luck to her children. When my friend found out he brought in local law enforcement and was able to get the "psychic" healthcare worker fired. Now his mom won't talk to him. He is currently trying to lock down his mother's bank accounts but she has apparently already given about $15,000 in cash to the psychic and is fighting hard to give her more.

Dropcam? It records to the cloud. If there's a wifi connection there, it would work.

make sure you put a note on the camera just in case they find it.

it should say something like

" I've been recording you all along and unless you give back her stuff I'm going against my mother's wishes and having you fired and criminally prosecuting you...
that's why I'm still recording to add the value up so I can get felony charges brought against you. have a good time in jail or call me at this number..."

just in case they find the camera it might actually help them decide to suddenly have a conscience.

it's a long shot but if they don't find the camera there is no harm in leaving the note addressed to
"the bracelet thief".

unfortunately it's an all too common occurrence at convalescent homes, nursing homes & retirement homes to have the elderly ripped off.

(I'm not sure recording on someone else's property is actually technically legal or able to be used in court without signs stating they are being recorded. I'm not saying not to do it, I just know those laws vary from state to state.)

another very very long shot idea, you can also try a Rockford Files style bluff. whenever you're visiting her (and your mom is not around) be pretending to be on the cell phone talking to a police detective about expensive items missing ..a big diamond ring, the bracelet, pearl earrings ...etc. as long as some employee hears it, word will spread quickly...
the thief may think they are in over their head and quietly return their small heist rather than get involved with a big investigation.

This is pretty common. A guy I used to work with had a job at one of these homes for a while. He said the stuff he seen was crazy.

The old folks gave away cars, money, jewelry even a house once to those who would bring them prohibited items (buckets of chicken for the heart patient, cigarettes for the cancer patient, alcohol for the alcoholic ect); other-times it was just because they were lonely and felt they (workers) were a friend and the only ones who really cared. Some even spited their kids and wanted to make sure they didn't get their money.

These situations are never easy. I'd look for a pin hole camera and be sure to check privacy laws. Unless she has her own private room (and you have power of attorney), you may very well be violating the law by unlawfully recording (wire tapping) where there is a expectation of privacy, even though your heart is in the right place.

My Grandmother is in a nursing facility, she had a long list of things that had gone missing. Jewelry, watches, cash etc.... We recently moved her to another wing of the facility and found every single object that she was convinced was stolen. She was convinced the staff was stealing things from her when her engagement ring went missing (it had gone missing a half dozen times before so we weren't concerned). Then over the span of the next two or three weeks more and more went missing. I had ordered a cam and was ready to install it when we moved her. We found the wedding ring in an envelope in the refrigerator with her handwriting on it. Then as we scoured the rest of her apartment as we were moving things we found everything else. Cash stuffed inside toilet paper rolls, jewelry taped to the underside of drawers, cash in the freezer in a rubber made container labeled "cold cash". She would hide things, then forget she hid them, think they were stolen and then hide more things. We found stuff she didn't even know was missing....

Get a game camera and put it inside a clock or picture frame or behind a mirror. Your choices are endless. As others have said, if they have wifi, a cloud based camera would be best - nothing to steal, the info is at your disposal in the cloud even if they take the camera!
