School me on itouch ID for Apple

Have 3 iPhones in our home, 3G and 2 4S's. Looking to upgrade all three to the iphone 6.

Anyhow, how does the itouch ID work? Can I set up each phone so that it will recognize my finger print, my wife's and my two daughters? Or is it one finger print per phone?

Also, once the phone is unlocked via finger print, does it allow access to everything within the phone such as APP purchases etc etc?

      ^ what uzi said.

You can have multiple fingerprints per phone. e.g. I have it set for both of my thumbs so I can unlock the phone with either hand.

To set up, it scans(?) your fingerprint by you continually placing and removing your finger. Then you change the angle so it has a better chance at reading it in various positions.

And you can still swipe to enter a code.

I think you were asking about App purchases too. There are additional controls so you can require a separate password to make purchases.

You can have touch ID just open up the phone or open up the phone and authorize purchases.

It works really well, almost all of the time, but will fail to read your finger/thumb if happens to be really dirty, wet, or covered in something like oil.

It can store a lot of fingerprints, Im not sure the total but I have both of my thumbs and pointer fingers, my wife's and my daughters programmed into mine. It reads pretty quickly.
