    Cell phones and the govt.

I text a picture of my lower receiver with monsterman grip and a2 stock to my bro. I tell him I'm building a featureless rifle. He texts me back, warning me to be careful what I text. When I ask him why, he mentions Mark Cuban, the govt having access to every pic, text message, email I've sent and internet site I've been to on some "server." I told him it's not a problem, since I've done nothing wrong or broken any laws. His response - Mark Cuban didn't break any laws and he had to spend a bunch of money to defend himself. His point was that since I don't make the kind of money Cuban does, I would be hurt financially. Again, I tell home I've done nothing wrong. His response - the govt goes after people that don't do anything wrong.

I guess my question is - does the govt have access to some type of server that records all of your cell phone conversations, emails, texts, etc? If yes, what is needed by them to access these records?

Is he being paranoid? Kind of makes me wonder what my bro is doing to send me a message like that

Does he realize how many billions of cellphone pictures, tests and emails get sent every day in the US alone?

Yeah. During the back and forth texts, I asked him if he knew how many ar15's have been sold in CA because he mentioned something about gun laws changing. What is legal now might be illegal in a couple of years. I told him if the state made a new law, I would comply to be legal.

Have you been hiding under a rock for the past 15 years? Yes the gov has all that info. Will they come to your door and take you to gitmo, probably not.

Your brother is 100% in his statements.

        Take it how you want.

OH and Fjold doesnt matter they go through it all..... well a computer goes through it all. image recognition and so forth. If the image, text, email what ever has any reason to be suspicious then it gets more examination.

The facebook generation has no idea about loose lips sinking ships.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

Are you saying the govt has a record of every email, text and phone conversation people have? I know they have the ability to access that information in the interest of national security but is that information recorded and saved for the millions of cell phones and computers out there?

              Yes. This is old news.

Also, your cell phone and laptop cameras and microphone can be accessed at any time by the govt. They have software that quietly takes photos when your phone is held in various orientations in order to build a map of the interior of structures.

And just a few years ago anyone making such allegations would have been considered a TFH nutjob. Looks like the "nutjobs" had it right all along.

                      Cell phones and the govt.

                      This thread smells funny.

EDIT: Everyone, and i'm pretty sure everyone was made aware of Edward Snowden and the information he released.

                      It smells like bait.
"Then there are sheepdogs. The sheepdogs are the bastions of safety. The sheepdog lives solely to protect the flock and confront the wolf. They live for the opportunity to be called to duty to protect the innocent. The sheepdog has fangs and the propensity for violence but hopes that he will not have to resort to it. However, he lives for that day when he will be able to use his warrior skills and mindset to keep the wolf from harming the sheep."

LOL - you got me. Check out the front page story "calgun members aware that govt keeps track of cell phone calls, texts and pics."

In all seriousness, I didn't care to read about snowden and thought the govt was monitoring members of the public who they thought were a threat to public safety.

Your tinfoil is on too tight. I have texted pictures of military weapons and guns from free states. No one has came to ask me if I posess a M61 Vulcan or anything else I have texted.

                            I wouldn't worry about a featureless rifle.

                              As is frequently the case.
