Finally activated my new cable modem.....

Ive had/purchased my Docsis 3.0 modem for several months, lagging to call Comcast

to switch to thier "blast" service. I was already @ 27mbps downstream and 5mbps up

So until recently they (comcast) claim to "double" bandwith as a "courtesy" (probably get rate increase later)

So i broke down and activated my modem before going to work....

FEK ME!!! 57.76 mbps down, 6mbps up...via wifi on my laptop

i know its just a speedtest, but no sign of FIOS coming to my hood anytime soon

thankfully, most of my neighbors switched to Uverse when it was rolling out..

How often did you typically have to reboot the cable-modem before upgrading?

I have a decent 100MBPS service through WaveBroadband. Through my new Airport Extreme I get 80-90 wireless dependent on distance from router but a straight 100 plus when Ethernet is used. If you have a streaming box for Netflix etc you will see a nice improvement.

If you live in a Uverse area Fios will never be available, but Att has been rolling out 300 meg in the Texas area
