+1
Also +1 for IBM Thinkpads. I'm not sure about Lenovo. They are aren't the same. Here's what happened in a nutshell:
IBM made legendary Thinkpads.
IBM decided to leave the laptop business.
For a few years, they had an agreement where Lenovo made and sold the Thinkpads, but IBM still provided the support.
Now Lenovo does all the making and all the support.
IBM: American company with business client focus
Lenovo: Chinese company with consumer focus
Lenovo Thinkpads aren't made to the same quality as the older IBM Thinkpads. Now, I'm not sure that they're worse than the other laptops on the market. They just aren't the legendary beasts that IBM made.
Definitely avoid their Ideapads (consumer line) if you want durability. Thinkpads are probably still good.
Also agree with ExtremeX. I didn't know about Intel Ark before.
OT:
I've used a touchscreen on Win XP. I'd be surprised if you couldn't on Win 7.
