Slim PS3- Remote won't connect, no WiFi

    Hi all,

Have a slim PS3 that's worked fine for a few years. Very little use. No heat issues (that I know of) as it's sitting on top of a dresser.

Last week, I noticed the dual-shock remote would not connect unless I used the USB cable. Tried another remote. Same issue. Pressed reset button, connected with USB cable to resync and no change. Tried remotes in our other PS3 and they both work fine wireless.

Also noticed the Wifi was starting to get flaky and finally would not connect the other day.

Unplugged PS3 for a minute or so. No change.

Last night, I reformatted the drive/ system and this morning, no change.

    No Wifi, no wireless remote.

Anyone know of a fix or is time to replace it?

Sounds like the wifi adapter in the PS3 went tango uniform.

Had the same problem with my PS3 after swapping to a larger drive. The only way to turn it on and have the controllers recognized was to turn it on manually and then turn the controllers on - but I have two of the BD remotes that did not have that problem and just use those to turn it on first. PITA. In your case, sounds like the board is going bad.

Have you tried the reset switch on the back of your controller? If not, turn off your PS3. Push the reset switch on the back of your controller (you'll need a toothpick or something very narrow). It's the little circular hole next to the screw. Turn your system back on and connect the controllers to by USB and turn the controllers on. This is supposed to re-register the controllers to your PS3.

Ya, tried that with both remotes we have. No luck.

Talking with the guys at Gamestop, they didn't seem to have an idea. I read some information about a possible loose cable inside. Guess some people have run into that when they've opened up their systems to clean/ change parts etc. While I haven't ever opened this up, it's worth a shot.

WiFi antenna inside the unit may have become disconnected, or has failed
