Not sure the difference between regular headphones and TV headphones unless you are looking for wireless headphones.

The Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones cost $100, and are probably one of the best sets of $100 headphones I’ve purchased or heard to date.

I use them now for travel, but for home / desk use, I’ve moved to a higher end set of open cans and a dedicated amp.

The HD 280 Pro are closed cans, which is probably what you want, and have an impedance rating which make it easy for things like an iPhone or AVR to drive.

Is this for 1 user or multiple users? If it’s for just one user, why not just run an extension cable from the AVR to the couch and make a headphone jack local to where you sit.

I do like the Sennheiser brand, but $100 gets you their bottom of the line for wireless… you can look at the options here.

From an audio standpoint, not as balanced in performance as the HD 280 which is like the minimum wired headphone I would even consider buying.

If this is for watching the news, then you can get away with a lot less, but for movies/music, I would put a lot more effort into what you decide to purchase.

Then again it just depends on how picky you are about your audio… you might want to visit some stores like Guitar Center and see if they have anything to demo.
