Bought the bottom of the line 64gb Surface. Came with the keyboard included $250. Runs Win 8.1 RT. Works fine for what I need - some MS Office. Going to add a 64gb mini SD for more storage. Screen is 16x9 ratio so movies look good too.

I don't think you really want a tablet. I think you want the $14 HP Chromebook for just $299:

I really like my Nexus 7 and find it's one of the few things I use almost everyday.

The chrome books are really nice if you are only interested in the googleverse. But they are kind of limited by that fact. For only a little more money, you can get a win8 tablet and have a much wider universe of apps and programs to choose from and you can still take advantage of the google-verse on top of it.

wait for the next Nexus tablet. 9" HTC build with Tegra K1 SoC. htc's build quality is exceptional, nexus branding gives you vanilla android, and the Tegra K1 is a beast among beasts.

My nexus 7 1st gen doesn't even get used anymore, my Verizon Nexus 7 2014 only really gets used while I'm driving. My Ipad Mini Retina gets used right now but probably only because I started playing with it this month.

I can only see the Ipad being useful because of the bigger screen size, well... that's why I like it more than the other 7" tablets I have.

Once I get the new Surface Pro 3 I don't see myself using ANY of them though.

Samsung Tab is the best buy right now.

Ok, so not only am I an early adopter and started with the original iPad I'm also an IT guy with 25 years experience and currently run a small video game developer working in the mobile space. We are currently developing for tablets and have evaluated probably 50 tablets at this point. I have done a deep dive on everything from Apple, Samsung, Asus all the way down through the Windows tablets and even the cheap Chinese imports. Not trying to brag, just showing how I get my data.

The iPad is a great piece of equipment and for years no one could equal them. But Apple is expensive and the stupid premium that they put on memory is absurd.

Asus makes good stuff and the convertible is a great product.

My whole team, as well as my family all use Samsung tablets at home. Get the Note if you are a power user or the Tab 3 for every day stuff. I'm writing this on a Tab 3 right now. Samsung is as good or better then apple. Android is now as good or better then iOS. There are more apps on android and if you commit to the "Google World" the level of free apps and intergration is staggering. Like I just left Dropbox for Google Drive and I also just bought that HP chrome book.

Tab 3 on sale at Woot for $200. http://computers.woot.com/plus/tablets-10?ref=cnt_wp_3

Samsung Galaxy Tab or Note. Dual Core or Quad Core if you need more power. I'm only getting a iPad Air for work because the software I use at work only operates on iOS. The Samsung is for personal use. Besides, I like the expandable memory slot.

I'm not having a glass of wine, I'm having SIX. It's called a tasting and it's classy.

I have iPad and android tablets. The iPad are a much more refined tablet interface. You should look at them at best buy to decide.

There is a reason why you see the android tablets marked down at Costco and other wholesalers. Nexus is good though, nothing but good reviews.

I'd look into the surface pro as a laptop replacement.

For what it's worth, I still have and use my first gen Nexus 7. I'd get another one in a heartbeat.

THIS!!! Go with a Chromebook! Those that think they are limited are just limited on their information!

Once you go Chromebook you won't be back to windows based platforms any longer (although for a phone windows 8 is not a bad platform as I rather enjoyed mine when I had one).

The only reason to get a heavy sluggish windows based platform would be for computer gaming and 90% of the population would be better served with a gaming console for that purpose.

The 4g versions are very convenient and come with lifetime 4g instead of 2 years like previous models.

People that knock them haven't used them or are technology geriatrics who are always behind the curve.
