*POSSIBLE or NOT* graphics card change on Toshiba Sat A5118

Hey guys, so I picked up a Toshiba Satellite A5118 from BB a couple months ago. I decided to go with the Toshiba because IMO it was the best bang for my buck at the store ( I probably could have picked up something better somewhere else but) I was in a time crunch and needed a laptop before I went out of state. I was between a ASUS Q550LF or the Satellite A5118. the ASUS had a NVIDIA GT 745M graphics and the Satellite runs the intel graphics card. So not thinking I was going to do much gaming on my Laptop I went with the Satellite due to it being a little bit cheaper and me listening to the sales person telling me oh the intel graphics card is good enough to do mild gaming so I was like solid.

Well I was pretty content with the laptop until I started to slowly start gamming on the laptop again like my good'ol high school days only to figure out this card isn't good enough for what I want to gamming to look like while I play. I can run most games but quality suffers from game to game depending on how smooth I want the game to run.

So my question is for my Computer savy Calgunners is it possible nowa days to install a new graphics card into a laptop? Or is it still a no go just like its always been?

An for the record the game I want to run is *"DAYZ"* lol. It runs well but quality suffers a lot. Also can anyone tell me for video editing as well as for photo editing does the graphics card matter for these tasks.

    Thanks guys

It's a no go. The graphics chip is on the board. You can't switch it out. You may be able to add RAM to help your situation.

Yes the graphics card matters because of the amount of video memory and processor resources that the laptop uses to render graphics. The GPU takes the heat off of the processor.

Pretty much what Bako said. Adding memory is pretty much all you can.do to try and improve the performance. I usually use Toshiba sats for everyday use and always end up adding memory. They usually only come with 1 stick but should be.dual channel compatible. You should look into that when buying the memory. It will make a difference.
