Printer Ink Cartridge Refill

Has anyone used Costco's ink cartridge refill service? I just bought two new B&W cartridges there for my printer and they cost me nearly $70. I don't go through a lot of ink, but thats ridiculous. There needs to be a cheaper alternative than buying new cartridges each time.

ETA: I just checked out their price sheet. I can get two cartridges refilled for about $22 vs. the nearly $70 I paid for them new. I'm just wondering about quality and how long they last, etc.

You can buy the kit at Fry's for $15. It'll refill black & color about 4 times.

Used a bunch of refilled ink cartridges in the past. Most were good as new .. a few seemed to be a little short filled. But well worth it.

I haven't touched inkjet in years. I made the switch to laser almost 10 years ago and I've only had to replace my toner cartridge once.

The problems we have at work with recycled refills is the damn effin' printer/computer thinks they have been used already; about 3 in 10 we return.

It's a racket how these printer companies work. Computers and printers are really cheap, but ink is a fortune and they have ways of making you buy THEIR ink. *rant off* sorry.

I use them on my color laser. Most of the time, you can reset the flag 2-3 times on cartridges and get more life out of them. This year, I started refilling after they actually ran out. So far so good. At $80 each it is totally worth it considering my printer takes 4.

Here is a hint on refilling cartridges......don't wait until the foam inside dries or the printhead gets too dry. Refill them within a few days and they will last longer. Canon and Epson ink cartriges have the most trouble with those machines in regards to under filling. Costco usually weighs them to double check they are fully filled, btw. Software is always being updated to fix those issues.

Not that I know anything about them.

A B&W laser for everything.

I own a few inkjets, but haven't used them as the ink dries up before I ever need to print anything on them, so I just use the B&W laser.

I have never replaced the toner in like 4 years, but I do almost everything electronically, not hard-copy.

Some times, image problems with ink cartridges are caused by the ink drying up on the printhead (little circuit board looking thing on the bottom of the cartridge). You can use a wet cloth/ paper towel and swipe the the ink cartridge on the cloth to clear it up.

Yeah, it's been years since I actually needed to print anything on paper. Even my workplace printer is hardly used by anyone. Good riddance.

I got so sick of buying ink and toner so my friend introduced me to this system that replaces the inkjet cartridges with this mechanism and tubes that go to a reservoir with blue red yellow and black ink. The refill on the ink comes in these large bottles that cost almost nothing. I've attached some pics. It's saved us a ton of money on toner and ink.

I have used costco refill service on ink many time. The thing is the cartridge should only be refilled maybe 3 times. After that they don't to seem to print that well and my printer always has some error. But 1-3 fills works.

There's your problem right there ... they're overcharging you for the white ink.

I tried refills years ago, and depending on which type of cartridges you have, it will either leak (tape doesn't seal properly) or the printer won't recognize that it has ink in it (cartridge is chipped). There are cartridges that are offbrand or refilled (with warranty) that cost less than half the price of the branded stuff. I usually order my stuff online as it will be cheaper than any of the stores and usually have reviews for me to consider before making the purchase.
