Unless you're writing apps, you shouldn't run a developer build. There's a lot of things in the developer builds that can be detrimental to your phone functionality.

If you are writing apps, then join the developer program. It's only $99 a year. A bunch of people in my office are on it (paid out of pocket) to write their own software. And even then, you should have at least another backup mobile phone in the event the developer build wigs out on your iPhone and you need something else to make calls while you try to revert/recover.

I'll be installing it later tonight. Need to backup and update a few things first.

Realize it'll be a beta version and not work perfectly. Unless you are a developer I wouldn't bother with the update. It may seem cool at first but the bugs will get annoying.

I'm not going to bother downloading this one until it's ready. Not enough "must haves" for me. Plus I like my jailbreak

              I already miss my jailbreak.

Well I just miss f.lux and being able to start a new text from the lock screen, but my jaklbreak phone crashed a lot and I was too lazy to figure out the problem.

Contrary to the reports I've read iOS8 has been really stable for me. No crashes. There are a lot of new location services that are enabled and drain your battery but I turned almost all of them off.

Unlike ios7, you do need a registered UDID to a developer account to verify the ios8 install. (Although people sell them for $10)

Beta 2 should be out June 16th.

If you're running iOS8, Beta 2 is now available both in the developer portal and via software update on your device.

Be very wary of Apple MS and Oracle they are trying to put the screws on developers using their APIs or developing on their platforms. If you want to make iPhone apps that's fine but you might want to try something like Kivy or Apache Cordova or something that might help you be more future proof and relevant. Always keep your Python, Javascript/HTML5, C/C++ skills sharp.

Sauce is here for the first case, MS and Apple have been throwing their hats in this ring too:

The TLR is stay away from Java, .net, and Apple's Development tools because they think they own and control everything and courts are starting to agree. Next step might be any app that uses their API is subject to their control.

Also what's up with developer fees for home users and open source projects?
