    New iPhone...?

So next month is finally my available upgrade. Right now I have the 4S and the battery life is absolutely terrible.

I want to upgrade, but Apple has a knack for releasing iPhones in the fall. I don't mind buying the 5s, but if there is a chance they will come up with a water resistant iPhone a few months later I would be willing to wait.

Any speculations on the new iPhone?

I'm willing to go for a 5S with a Lifeproof case... I feel like that might be my safest bet.

youll know when Apple announces it in August or September maybe earlier. Right now its all speculation and fake videos and images just like everyyear. it drives readership in blogs etc...... But I would bet that they will offer a 4.7 inch screen model and maybe another one bigger. WWDC is 2 weeks away.

Buy a battery kit off of ebay. Take five minutes then you can wait a couple of months.

I'm pretty sure we will never see a "water proof" iPhone, or phone in general. think about how many people need to replace their phone due to water damage. the phone companies would loose a lot of money.

hmm... since there has only really been one or two windows phone generations i think that's yet to be seen but I was mainly comparing to the Android systems on the market.

Water resistant iphone? That's pretty much the least likely thing to happen.

Either replace the battery and wait for a new iphone, or just get something else.

Buy the 5s and have done with it.

Even if Apple released an iPhone 6 tomorrow, it would be three months at least before you could actually get one without dealing with obscene lines - and assuming you got an iPhone 6 before then, it would be a buggy mess until Apple got all the initial kinks worked out.

I've seen firsthand how an iPhone launch pans out. My advice, always buy a generation behind. You won't be the cool kid with the newest Apple toy. But at least your phone will work, and you'll get a great deal on the outgoing model. The smartest folks last year were the ones who waited to buy the iPhone 5 after the 5s came out.

I'd swap your battery or take it to Apple to change it. I think they charge $80.
They will for sure be coming out with an iPhone 6 in the fall. From the leaked photos of cases I've seen, probably a 4.7" and a 5.5" version. Possibly an option for a complete sapphire glass screen as well.

Whether it will be waterproof or not I do not know. My guess is it is a little early for that yet.

I wouldn't want a 5S with the 6 coming out right around the corner, but then again I like to have the latest and greatest. I pay cash for my iPhones as I'm on a grandfathered unlimited Verizon plan and don't want to lose it.

The 4S is still capable. In years to come it will be like a Volkswagen bug. You will see them years from now. They are durable (much more so than the stupid aluminum 5 and 5S) and the processor can still carry iOS. The 5/5S dents buy looking at it wrong.

Get something that you can swap the battery on the fly/move for <$15...
Issue resolved, and you won't have 100% chance that the NSA can inject malware/tracking in your phone if they target you.

Do you use your real name via your iTunes account, iCloud, or AppleCare?
Most Androids don't require you to have these problems...

iPhone 6 will be out Sept/Oct. It will not be waterproof, but you could get a case for it. The iPhone 6 will come in a larger form factor, probably 4.7" screen to start.

The question is simple: Can you wait? If not, buy a 5s now. If you can wait, you should wait. You will be paying the same amount of money for an iPhone 6. (4" iPhone 6 will start at $199, 4.7" likely to start at $299)
You think you know, but you have no idea.

...or get something that has a way to go "back" in all apps, and the ability to use the keyboard in landscape in all apps, but this would require consistency/uniformity, and logic of some type...

That's untrue. I had a work phone on Verizon that was water proof to 30m. I tested to 2m in my pool. Casio construction grade phone. Motto was "life proof". But it rang submerged in water. Kicker was it had to be closed to be water tight.
