    Printer keeps going offline

I have a HP Laserjet P2035n printer that I've setup on a network. I've statically assigned it an IP of 192.168.1.6 and all of the computers on the network can see and print to it just fine. Although I have one computer that's on Win 8.1 64bit and after every restart the printer will show that it's offline whereas all the other computers see it and it's online. Only way I've been able to fix it is to delete and add the printer again.

Windows 8.1 has all the latest updates and I''m using the latest 64 bit driver from HP.

Any thought's on how to fix this.

I found a couple of solutions online but they all say switch from DHCP and manually assign the IP address and that's not working for me.

You know there is a suggestion on HP's site that was posted 4/15/2014?

Basically says, you need to turn on Network Discovery and File and Print Sharing. I wouldn't do the latter, but the former sounds like it might be your cake.

Network Discovery is on and File/Print sharing is off. I've turned both on just to see if that would be any help but it didn't make a difference. I've left both on for now.

A couple of things to check. Go to devices and printer and right click the printer. If it has a offline status option and it's checked, uncheck it. Second thing to inspect, go into your printer properties and choose the advanced tab. Make sure always available is selected instead of a designated time range.

Have heard of older HP printers having issues with Windows 8. Some of which HP does not have updated drivers for.

It's not marked offline, and it's available all the time by default, and I did double check it just on the off chance.

              It's running the latest drivers.

Once the printer is installed it prints just fine. Once I shut down/restart the computer then it shows it's offline and all the other settings are correct.

The office that the printer is at has a mix of window's 7 pro 32 bit and 64 bit and windows 8 64bit.

All of the other computers print just fine to it with the exception of just the one computer that's running windows 8 64bit.

That's been my experience also. Only solution so far that we've seen is to go back to Windows 7. I'll see if I can find any more information.

One last thing to check before you nix the OS. Go into the printer properties under the port tab and if SNMP is enabled, deselect it. Then, reboot everything.

SNMP is not even there in the ports tab. And since I was in there I did confirm that it's checked marked on the correct port. TCP/IP port 192.168.1.6.

I'd try deleting and re-adding the port for the printer.

My wifes laptop had this same problem. Windows 8. Delete the printer reboot. Go to hp website and download the printer software for the printer you have. Not just the driver. Install the hp printer software for that printer. Add the printer if the software does not do it. Print a test page and then reboot. This fixed the problem for my wife. For some reason we had the same problem when using the add printer option and just installing the driver. When we added the printer software problem fixed.
