    GMRS

I have a garmin GPS, and it has a gmrs radio built into it that i use when hunting. I am trying to find some type booster for the radio. It is only 2watts with regular batteries AA. Is there a product out there that can boost the watts ? I was hoping I could get a booster antenna or something to put in my vehicle but cant find anything.

    this is the radio/gps

I don't think there's any way to boost the wattage of those radios, but you can get a GMRS type-approved radio with more wattage and the capability to attach a better antenna. ICOM makes such a radio, or you could buy one of those Boafeng radios and set it up for the GMRS frequencies. They're four or five watts.

GMRS mobile radios can be had with up to 50 watts of power too. Mobile radios with decent antennas will get your signal our way out compared to a handheld.

That's what I was thinking but didn't want to accept. Thanks for the response.

If you don't have a gmrs license, you technically can not even operate at 2 watts.

If you get your tech class license you can rather cheaply setup a 2 meter radio with APRS. I'm going for my tech this summer and hopefully will get to play with some of this stuff.

GMRS radios are designed for short range point to point operation. More power doesn't always solve range.
Get a ham radio license and a world of options will open up to you.
