Need Advice on a scanner or scanning system for stapled docs

I need something to do efficient batch scanning of grey scale stapled text documents. The scanner would replace a flatbed type scanner.

What I am looking for is something that is fast and automatic specifically tuned for documents with a pdf or jpg output and highly compressed (small but readable files - 200k would be ideal). The files also need to be renamed as they are saved for organization and to match them back to the original doc number.

I am looking at everything from IOS and Android apps like Genius Scan to portable scanners like the PiQx. The system definitely has to have the autocropping, rotate, focus, fixing features.

piQx Imaging researches, designs and develops book scanning hardware systems and related software algorithms. We created the xcanex bookscanner - the world's fastest, lightest and most portable personal book scanner.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Sheet-fed is not an option and neither is flatbed. I have those types of scanners already. Thanks for any input.

This has been pretty reliable for me but there are higher end models available:

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I saw the thread title. Although you might want to pair it with one of these, for when you finish scanning.

Hah hah... yeah I hear you. Work smarter, not harder.

It isn't for my department, but I will suggest that to the supervisor - hopefully he doesn't take it the wrong way. They specifically requested that type of scanner.

In the past we have used combo scanners with sheet feeder and flat bed... because of the nature of the various forms (multipart, stapled, thin thermal, crumpled, thrashed... they always used the flatbed).
