All the more reason to have 1 specific account just for online transactions. If it's compromised, you limit your losses. Only deposit money into the account when you need to make an online payment, or at least keep just the bare minimum in the account to keep it open.

Agreed. I have a BofA CC I use only for only purchases. I only use it with the generated numbers via their ShopSafe feature. Each merchant gets a different CC number, and each CC number is limited to the puchase amount rounded up to the next $5. I can increase the amount whenever I make another purchase at a previous vendor and I can extend the expiration two months at a time (up to a year).

I have gone through 8 credit/debit cards in 12 months. Everytime they are accessed and items bought or attempted to be bought. VISA seems to be the worst, only my Discover Card has been secure, so far.

Tuesday I was in the bank attempting to validate my new 'replacement' card when I got a call from a merchant asking if I had authorized an internet purchase. I said no and told the bank officials to instantly cancel that card. It was 3 weeks old and I used it once at Midway.

These cards last about maybe a month before they are stolen. It's an inconvienience for me but it has cost my bank many thousands of dollars. Funny, they never seem concerned about that.

Rather than cut them up, I save them, take them to the range and tape them to a target, it's theraputic.

Everything is secure here except for credit cards. The credit co's need to step up their game or they are going to loose billions. Those costs will be passed on to you and me, we are all paying for this.

Ha! I renewed during that time. I just had 2 fraudulent charges show up on my card last week and cancelled it. I think my numbers were skimmed at a gas station because it was used at 2 gas stations close by, but who knows.

i guess california will not be paying for some kind of credit monitoring eh? last this happened to me (fidelity lost a laptop that had our info on it), they paid for credit monitoring for 1 yr.

just be very diligent in checking your credit card online regularly. i check daily myself and don't wiat ofr quicken to download. i caught things very early in the past for cc frauds.

LOL. I think that software program you are talking about is the malware on your home computer. I use my credit cards at least once per day (online, gas stations, restaurants) and have only had my data stolen twice in 26 years.

You've either got an infected computer or some wardriver has cracked your wireless. If Midway were compromised, half this forum would be screaming.

Given the frequency with which your credit cards are compromised, it's most likely that your computer is infected with malware. Wipe your hard drive and do a fresh OS install or start with a brand new computer. I'd recommend changing all of your account passwords after doing so.
