That's why I'm not going back to Linux: Distros come and go. No sooner you install one, something better comes along. Change is good, but it's also bad.

It's the nature of the game. Any OS you use will have some sort of EOL, so you have to be prepared to migrate.

But seriously, if you were running things in one Linux distro, you should be able to port it over to another Linux distro. I can't imagine coming across any serious roadblocks moving from one distro to another. Maybe variances in initialization scripts which might require you to write your startups. If you're a developer, then maybe a change in build environments. But then again, you're probably compiling all of your development tools from source, into a custom build environment/directory structure, anyway, so you should be able to light up a new environment fairly quickly.

Yeah, XP is dying officially next month, and I have coworkers that cannot update OSuX on their iPhuity-devices too, as Apple says they are too old, or they don't support Motorola procs any longer...

I guess it happens to everything, but I REALLY DUG Pear, and my mother-in-law has been running it on a notebook for like 8 months(?) now with ZERO issues.
(So simple a mother-in-law could use it...)
