    Forum slow to load

I click on calguns, a sub forum, a thread, go into PMs, hit post or edit...no matter what I am doing the forum is so slow to respond to my request lately.

Is it just me? I'm on an iphone 5. It's got plenty of memory, and I clear my internet history every few days.

Nope, it's been really slow since I tried to get on at 9AM. Definitely not your hardware or software.

Scroll to the bottom and see how many active users are on now. With all of the CCW litigation the forums are blowing up with activity, it's been slowing down since the Peruta decision first came out. It'll resolve itself once things settle down.

Well it might be that they are running an Open Source OS, in a proprietary VM, on top of a proprietary OS, running on proprietary hardware...

There's only 180 people online now .. it can handle way more than 1000 and has peaked to 6500. It's extremely slow and getting worse.

Could be a DoS. I had an IP from China slamming the authentication page for my personal site a couple days ago. My IDS automatically blocked him, but the offender kept hitting it over and over again after the IDS released the block. I ended up just setting up a permanent iptables rule to block the IP and then set my thresholds in OSSEC to do a more dramatic increase in blocking for repeat offenders.

Western civilization represents the pinnacle of true human progress, and we should rightly be proud of it, delusional leftists be damned.

We know it's the family and the church not government officials who know best how to create strong and loving communities. And above all else we know this, in America, we don't worship government, we worship God.

                          Still slow as snot.

Probably a Denial of Service attack by the NSA.

I hate these CalGuns outages. They result in a 65-70% spike in productivity here at work. Completely unacceptable!

Whenever the DOJ or ATF does a site rip it creates problems. Because the spider is basically clicking on every link to snapshot the site at a moment in time, the DB cache is not able to be very useful. So it has to fork a bunch of threads for requests rather than get it from the cache.
