    Colion Noir's Video edit work

So this may be a little off topic but I can't find an off topic section ?

I was hoping someone would know what software Colion noir uses to edit his videos.

I recently got a gopro and have a need to learn how to use software that can do that kinda stuff.

Thanks guys! Have a nice weekend!!

Short answer - have you shot him a message through You Tube and asked him?

My solution is I wound up buying a used Mac so I could use I movie to work my go pro videos. I found anything I wanted to do could easily be done with I movie. It actually wound up being cheaper than buying just a video editing software and I could use all of the computer just for videos. Lots of easy how to use I movie on You tube.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a Mac guy preaching Mac, I still like my PC, this just worked for me and was fairly cheap in the grand scheme of things. I bought my refurbed mac from E bay for $300 to the door. All of the decent entry level video editing programs were more than that and harder to use.

Movie maker that comes with PCs just didn't have that polished feel that I was looking for

The videos you're referring to aren't all that complex. You could theoretically cut using iMovie, but you'll probably want to run Adobe Premiere or Final Cut (Express/Pro) for a lot more flexibility and the ability to tweak your final target export videos.

He does some cool stuff with text floating around in his NRA videos. Can that all be done in premier?

Those are done by NRAMedia, not Colon Noir, and they utilize motion graphics, typically authored in Adobe After Effects. You can buy those ready to go from sites like Pond5 or Revostock and just plug them into Premiere.

Actually, it's his actual photography that makes his videos stand out. He shoots shallow depth of field giving it a professional film/documentary look. His audio is also pretty good. Sounds like he's using a shotgun mic. (No pun intended.)

If I had to take a wild guess, he probably works in the production industry because his video work is a cut above all the others.

Yes, as mentioned in another response, you can do that in Premiere, although After Effects will add more options and features with regards to animation and what not.

Check out Lynda.com for tutorials and buy the monthly subscription. It's cheap and their Premiere Essentials course guides you through all the important concepts. I am not a computer person and don't have a photography/video background and I picked up the basics after a weekend. Their stuff is really good.
