Desktop <> Cloud <> Android Encryption

Would like to have access to my desktop files (Win 7 x64) (documents/scans/etc) via cloud storage (box.com - dropbox.com - google drive) and be able to decrypt on my phone Android Nexus 5.

    Anybody doing this or similar?

I use dropbox, google drive and ubuntu one to backup my nexus 4, and/or share files. Airdroid is a great app for accessing files or transferring files between a computer and an android.

      SFTP+no-ip(or other DDNS).

      (Other options:
      VPN+CIFS via IP-URL's...?
      SSH tunnel to RDP session...?)

I don't trust MY data on storage someone else has control of (parses data on)...

Airdroid looks like a great freebie, and maybe worth the money for a subscription.

and....I hate when I'm not clear.

What I'd like to be able to do is use an open source Win app to encrypt the entire contents (individually - not one big archive) of my dropbox folder, box.com folder, google drive,etc...store these items on the cloud(s) some of which would be sensitive, and be able to access (decrypt)them on an android platform, say to email (or fax - crap! another thing to look into) them to someone who needs proof of something.

Just starting to test some different possibilities and love it when someone can say this works or that doesn't etc...

so what youre asking to do is actually the opposite of what i believe you wish to accomplish.

many of those cloud storage sites are 256-bit AES encrypted. when you pull encrypted data down and "decrypt" on your device to email, unless your smart phone is encrypted and you are emailing though an encrypted email solution, all your security cautions will be for naught.

if you still want to do it on your smartphone, i would recommend something like boxcryptor (app) and safegmail (chrome ext).

other than that, i require that all my users use our ironport (cisco) for sending confidential data or have the customer directed to our SFTP server. i am playing around with other MDM (mobile device management) solutions like zenprise, air-watch, etc but they all suck and have their weak points.

I'm willing to accept the risk transferring a document individually, this is not corporate data just personal data that I am needing access to occasionally while I'm away from the desktop. I just don't want all of the data unnecessarily exposed.

boxcryptor looks like a decent solution (secured the new 50GB box.com drive), and I also found tresorit - which has a free 5GB account. That gives me 55gb of cloud storage with pretty good confidence in the security of the data. Frankly my desktop is probably the weak spot now.

            Thanks

haha, yeah once you start paying attention, security becomes a monster.

if its not business, youre going down the right path with box and dropbox. i use dropbox for my personal stuff.
