    Anti-ad blocker script?

I run a small humor site that just-barely pays for itself through context ads. Since adblock got so popular, it's... not good.

Anyone familiar with any applications that will block the display of the site if an adblock extension is detecting?

Ideally, I'd like it to block out the page and provide instructions on whitelisting the site.

I've never had any reason to try to defeat adblock, but just thinking about it for a few minutes, I would probably write some sort of refresh/redirect code that's always loaded on every page no matter what based on some flag or variable that's basically set to true. This refresh/redirect will then send the user to your whitelist instructions.

Then have some sort of javascript code that will trigger the adblock on the client side such that the javascript code gets blocked. Within that javascript code, set the refresh/redirect flag to false.

So if a user not running adblock visits your page, they'll load the javascript code which will make sure the redirect doesn't happen (set to false). But someone who is running adblock won't load your javascript code and therefore the refresh/redirect will take place.

I'm sure there's probably a better way to do this, but like I said, I've never really thought about this before since I never had any reason to do it.

I block them for a reason like the ads here. They are --->ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who the hell wants to see flashing jerking twitching ads blinking at the top of the screen. If you make them come back I stop coming to the site or figure a way to block them again.

Can you set up the profile to block any link or convert any link to ************
Until the user has at least 50 posts?

Well, my site isn't a forum. People that browse my site with ads off cost me money.

I didn't use to be harsh about it, but now the income from the site is down 80%, even though the traffic has nearly doubled. It's to the point where I need to pay for more powerful hosting, but the next tier hosting will exceed the money made in revenue. So. (What I'm paying right now for a year of hosting will now be how much TWO months of hosting cost...)

I'm thinking showing 1-2 pages before preventing people with adblock viewing the site seems like a good solution. I don't want to cut people off entirely.

            .....I'll check out pagefair, thanks!
