I tried USB drive, but have issues. At least the one I tried (Sandisk, Kingston, PNY) all have issues, either the games cannot be copied or something else.

I want a new HDD because MS now give 2 free games every month and they take a lot of space. I.e. this month is Sleeping with Dogs (good game BTW) and it needs 6 Gb of free space. Disc-based game like BF4 needs 2GB. With all the other digital games, saves, etc, I ran out of space.
I use Kingston and PNY and so far have never had any problems. I downloaded HALO 2 and that took up almost 7 GB. Right now I have a 16GB PNY in one of my slots and had to transfer the HALO game from the 8GB Kingston with no problems.

I think Ill delete HALO and download Sleeping Dogs. Sometimes Gold gives you a cool game but sometimes they suck. It does make me want to invest in a 250GB HDD though. But 16 and 8 flash will work for now.

GEtting a new Slim version is tempting, though!
Are you talking about the Slim E? The new slim "e" version does not have all the features of the original slim. I think they left out some inputs and some other things as well. I do know the buttons are clickable and not just "hover" like the xbox s

I hadn't thought of that, but I assume the stuff that you can't copy to another USB flash drive can't be copied (with current 360 firmware), then it couldn't be copied to the cloud. Let me know if this works.

I got one of these and the "software" but even after watching a few videos and doing about an hour of research I gave up on trying to figure it out. You got a link to some enlightenment, and is it for the legit M$ cable, or the off-shoot?

I'm sure your local GameStop has a bunch of used hard drives lying around. They are probably over-priced but if you wait for one of gamestops sales (they happen all the time) or if you are a premium member you can get one at a discount.

That's a other thing to check besides keeping an eye out for a deal on amazon or eBay.

I just popped on the new drive, hooked the old one up with the cable, popped the disc in and followed the prompts. It came with the new HD that I bought.

BTW, I just want to point out that anything you d/l under Gold, you are able to re-download at any time. So, if you are just worried about getting the games for gold, you really just need enough space for one of them. Download it and then erase it to make room for the next one. Anytime you want to go back and play whatever you have already deleted, you can re-download it at that point.

Just as a stop gap, until you figure out your HDD situation.

Yeah, I have 50mbps down/25mbps(well 35 lately) up, and I hate waiting, which is why I pay the extra $10/month for about double the speed but I ALWAYS wait for M$'s downloads WAY longer than I should have to with their throttling...

I NEVER get/got even close to even 3+MB+/sec downloading anything from ANY M$ server... but I do when downloading Linux ISOs.

Hell, I can get bursty-speeds at like 7MB/second elsewhere.

Really? Thats cool. Where would you go to find old games that you deleted?

If you know the game name, say Plant vs Zombies (great game BTW), just search it in the game marketplace and when you select it, instead of showing "Purchase" it'll show "Download".

You can go on the microsoft site and check your whole account history with regards to purchases and downloads. I believe you can do so as well directly from the x360 dashboard under the settings-->account history page.

Don't forget too, any game you have downloaded, if you go to it in the marketplace will show "download again" instead of purchase, if you've already downloaded it previously. So that's another way to redownload what you know you've bought. Just go to it and download it again.

You can often find cheap hdds on craigslist these days as people are upgrading to the Xbone

Quick question for those who have XBOX ONE: can the Gold downloaded games be played in One? I know CD based Xbox 360 cannot be played on the One.

You can just use 32gig usb drivers. You can get them cheap online. And the Xbox will reformat it.

There is no backwards compatibility at all for the PS4 or the X1 this generation.

                              No disc, no downloads, nothing.

That may be changing later into this new gen, as both companies (and especially Sony) have hinted at cloud based emulator gaming for older games, but as of now, you are buying a PS4 or an X1 to play PS4 or X1 games.

If you want the free games for gold MS is giving away or the PS+ games sony is giving away, buy a used X360 or PS3.

Just get any 32gb USB drive? I have tons of these lying around at home... Well, micro SD card but I have a USB converter.
