If you wanted to use extended batteries or alkaline batteries, you'd want to stay away from the UV-5RA

The extended batteries work with the UV-5RA, you just have to cut the little plastic nubs off the top of the extended battery. No problem then.If you wanted to use extended batteries or alkaline batteries, you'd want to stay away from the UV-5RA

Forget the UV-5RA, the plain Jane simple and sturdy UV-5R is back in stock or $31!

True, just putting it out there. Not as many people these days are willing to take a dremel to their electronics these days...
The alkaline battery pack is a *pain* to modify to fit. Thinner and brittle plastic...Originally posted by Kestryllwe can not nor should not dismiss or discount my theory that in the dark of night you molest sea anemones by candlelight.Originally posted by TKMShow me on this 1st Amendment bobble-head doll where the mods touched you.Originally posted by Click BoomIt is clear from this thread that citadel grad was the gunman, and Oswald his patsy.Comment

I bought one of the AAA battery packs, and promptly returned it.
It powered up the radio and I could listen, but it didn't have enough amperage to transmit. Try it.
It doesn't. Work.HammerOriginally posted by CSACANNONEERYou don't watch much porn, do you?Originally posted by loopholeWhat's a PIN number? Or an ATM?

I did. Works for me just fine, though I'm thinking of using an aftermarket case that uses AA batteries instead of AAA batteries so I get more life out of it...
Here's the thing: you either need to use rechargeable batteries, or if you're using alkaline batteries, substitute 1 battery for a dummy battery. This brings the voltage of the AAA battery pack down to the same voltage as the Lithium battery pack, and transmit will work again. The problem isn't too little amperage, but rather too much voltage.
Try it with a cheap radio shack battery holder and some tape first if you're skeptical...Originally posted by Kestryllwe can not nor should not dismiss or discount my theory that in the dark of night you molest sea anemones by candlelight.Originally posted by TKMShow me on this 1st Amendment bobble-head doll where the mods touched you.Originally posted by Click BoomIt is clear from this thread that citadel grad was the gunman, and Oswald his patsy.Comment
