Isn't this a CPU hog (if lots of people started using it)?

      Yes it is.

Just FYI, the "Enter the Forums" link on the root page is absolute with a value of "http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/index.php" which means that when it is clicked the user will be back into unencrypted land again. The link should be a relative one so the "https" part will stick.

Also it looks like one of those free certs (or a self-signed one I didn't look) is being used which means that most browsers are going to whine about accepting it. Both IE and Opera throw "scary" messages when the page is first loaded for me. I think most people are going to be freaked out by the warnings.

Yep, but we've got a pantload of CPU here and are adding more very soon now (TM).

We're also in process of obtaining a 'real' cert to quiet browsers. Eventually, the goal is to make all CGN browsing HTTPS. One of many exciting things we have in store.
