    registering domain name

    Hi everyone,
I have a question about registering a domain name. Our high school alumni association had someone in our high school graduating class register a domain name and set up a website for us, but now they've lost the domain name. I am looking to register a new domain name and restart the website, but wanted to know if a .com or .org or .net name would be appropriate. The website is for the alumni class to log in and keep in touch with others, so it's noncommercial, but it's not really an established organization so I don't know if I should use a .org domain even though that's my first inclination. Any advice would be helpful.
    thanks.

For an Alumni Assoc. .org would be fine ....but I'd just buy the .com also to avoid confusion and have both point to same place. At $12 or so each it's best to be safe.

No one follows the old standards anyway, so do what you like. To me .org seems the most appropriate (you are not a business for com, not an ISP for net, and not a school for edu, so that leaves org on the classic gtld space). If you have the spare money for each year, get .com and maybe .net and have them redirect to the .org.
