i looked at my schedule for next quarter and realized i will be at school all day with a long lag time between classes. i have been kicking the idea of getting a gaming laptop around for a while and decided its time to pick one up. the best buys near me has the asus G75VW and it seems like it can run games, Microsoft office and my video editing stuff, so i will be getting it soon (probably next week). i need some good games to play on it now, i was thinking about a MMO and World of Warcraft looks fun, but needs a monthly subscription. RIFT also looks good and it's free, but not many people play it. any tips on other fun PC games to play?

I have been playing STO for years and I havent payed a dime. It is a time pit.

Download STEAM and pick and choose from there. Usually good deals for fun games under 10 bucks. Terraria is about 10 bucks and can easily burn days. Stay away from EA (Electronic Arts) or SOE (Sony Online Entertainment). If you want an MMO, I'd say just wait for WildStar which will be fantastic.

trust me i am DONE with EA. i will NEVER buy another EA game (except maybe mass effect 4). after the mess BF4 is and realizing they knowingly sold a unfinished product at full price, i will NEVER trust that company again. i feel like a idiot for buying premium day one . never gonna let EA rape me like that again. steam does look interesting though and has lots of games for cheap.

WoW is now free to play. You CAN pay to subscribe and get more stuff/ advantages, but you don't need to. Same with Star Wars: The Old Republic and DC Universe Online, and Champions Online. All free to try.

WOW is not free to play. thy have a free trial that lets you play till your character reaches level 20, but beyond that they want money. Blizzard has specifically said WOW will not go free to play.

WoW is also a HUGE time sink, have you looked into Diablo III? It's a pretty fun RPG that's a bit more casual. Or if you like RTS games, get Starcraft II.

The controls and UI are very streamlined and simple to use. The learning curve is very easy and quick.

just as a rule of thumb its not ideal to buy "gaming" laptops from department stores. get one custom built. I know it sounds snarky but seriously. buying a gaming laptop from best buy is like saying I bought a diamond from walmart; rarely will you get something ACTUALLY of the quality that you are meant to be getting.

STO, Battlestar Galactica, NFS World...all 'free' that is if you do not mind being the underdog all the time. BSGO is like that. Everyone eventually goes and spends some money on it.

I play these pretty regular.


Problem is with free to play is all the tempting things you can buy.....

I agree with Germz and you get what you pay for. Get something better than good. Do not buy from Best Buy.
I hear AlienWare is a good gaming system, but pretty expensive....

old WoW content is great but once you hit the level 80 stuff it goes downhill fast. their past 2 expansions are game killers.
