    DROPCAM PRO

I purchased a DropCam Pro and was wondering if anyone had opinions on it?

Seems to work well. The video quality is decent, but not great. I luv being able to see through the camera with any internet connected device. Sound and/or movement emails is cool. $99 bucks a year for 7 day cloud recording. Super easy setup.

    It's a fun toy I guess

What is the latency waiting for video to go to the cloud then back to your device? How close to live is it?

Also, what is your internet speed at home?

You might keep an eye on how much bandwidth it's using and what your connection allows. Last I checked there were Amazon reviewers talking about some pretty big numbers and that was for one camera. If you set up a real 4+ camera security system it would add up pretty quick.

I am not sure I want my neck-kid arse available on a server that could be hacked (or monitored via provider of service) without my knowledge/consent.

I don't even like my files on cloud-storage.

I like to be able to cut the feed, myself, on the router if at all possible with just a unchecked box.

Secure? Encrypted password auth? Those are MY worries.

The Dropcam uses .2Mbps of upload bandwidth, and depending on the conditions, can peak up to .5 Mbps. They actually say it requires .5 Mbps per camera.

The delay is about 2-5 seconds for video to go to the cloud then back to my device.

If you get more then 10-15 feet away a face image becomes blurry. If you know the person you can tell who it is easily, but closer then 10 feet its a true hd image.
