My wife was buying a new phone a couple weeks ago (she got an Android - AFAIK iOS 7 has lots of problems, so I discouraged her from getting an iphone) and the Verizon guy told me an iphone 4 doesn't have the power to really run iOS7 properly.

I'm still on 5.1.1, too. When Apple screwed up Maps with 6, I figured I didn't need that noise.

iOS7 is like Android, but for iPhruity-devices, only slower...

It's funny how Apple lists specs that are not really the tech-specs, but dimensional and apparently storage capacity only: http://www.apple.com/lae/iphone/iphone-4s/specs.html

        Possible issue?
        4S:
        Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 w/512 MB RAM
        Apple iPhone 4s,Apple,iPhone 4s,GSM,mobile,phone,cellphone,information,info,specs,specification,opinion,review

        5S:
        Dual-core 1.3 GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) w/1 GB RAM DDR3
        Apple iPhone 5s,Apple,iPhone 5s,GSM,mobile,phone,cellphone,information,info,specs,specification,opinion,review

Even Androids with less than 768MB of RAM drag quite a bit, even if running a LEAN ROM.

Considering we have over 250 idevices to update here at work, That's one reason why we're upgrading everyone to the 5S; since iOS 7 was basically recompiled to perform better on the 64bit cortex architecture.

We've ran it on the iPhone 4S (Verizon) with no issue and the iPhone 5.

Keep in mind to those users who have 5.1.1, most of the developers are going to stop supporting iOS 5 due to Apple and their new SDK restrictions (should be getting warning messages, etc. from apple or devs)

Technically, very apple thing they're doing, forcing users to just upgrade to the latest

P.s. - Google maps is available now if you didn't like the apps so it's OK to upgrade now from iOS 5

              Running OK on my 4S.
It's running OK on the wifes 4, she's not thrilled with it but it IS running half way decently.

iPhone 4s on iOS 7.0.3, runs the same as before, great. Same is true of sons' phones and brother's family too...

Wonder how many of these "issues" are due to "jail broken" phones or apps loaded outside the App Store enviroment?. Apple does not design superior products and software/firmware to be altered and then be held accountable when things go wrong...

I have a 4S with the new software. It runs okay but noticed it lagged a little after the new update. I have not updated my iPad 2 because of this. The lag is minor but noticeable.

All stock, straight from apple/verizon. Apps from Apple store. I beginning to think its just being overworked. Like my old xp OS and all of the new program requirements.

I'm on the latest 7.03 or .04 or whatever we are up to on a 4s. Runs fine. Haven't had any issues. The battery seemed to run down really quickly with the first change over to 7.0 but settled back down to normal by .02 or .03. I don't remember exactly when.

(That's been typical of previous OS updates).

On the older phones, things speed up a bit and don't feel as clunky if you turn off all the paralax and file animations (zooming in and out of folders and apps).

You can turn all that stuff on in settings ---->general ---> accessibility----> reduce motion
