    best client for video chat

I am having to move for work and am looking for a good client for video chatting back home with my family and friends. I'm completely new to this. I know there is skype and google hangouts.

Anyone have any advice for which one is best and easiest to work with?

    Thanks

I'd try Skype, Google Hangout, AnyMeeting, Tinychat. Hangout seems to be very popular.

I like Skype and Hangout since they just seem to work and easy for me to setup.

Skype for one on one, Google Hangout for multiple people. I use both for podcasts and staying in touch with friends and family overseas and both are solid. Skype though when it comes to phone apps... are a bit shoddy.

As John said, they are easiest... any problems are generally with peoples crappy internet connections.

I think you got the best platforms already. And if you are using Apple stuff, Facetime is good too.

if you trying to video chat with a few people at one, google hangouts
one-on-one, facetime if you both have apple devices...otherwise Skype

Skype backdoor was given to NSA. I wouldnt touch skype at all. Use an open source encrypted client like Jitsi or do some searching.

Blue jeans network is great but its not free http://bluejeans.com/

Edit: just re-read the op Google hangout or viber http://www.viber.com/ When my folks were in Eourpe for a month all the video chat, text messages, and calls were free using Viber. Viber even works on your smartphone.

Skype would be best, it is easier to connect and chat through out.
