    Drilling for window Alarm contact?

I am re-doing my alarm sensors for my windows. Currently I have wireless sensors mounted on the window frame and will be moving the wireless transmitter to an area not in the window frame about 3" outside the window area. If I move the sensor to the wall just outside the window, what is the easiest was to drill a hole to run the wires from the inside of the window sill to the wall?

My thought was to drill a hole perpendicular to the wall a couple of inches from the window sill and then drill into the window sill toward the first hole at 90 degrees and "hope" to hit it. Since good plans do not start with "hope" so I wanted to get thoughts from someone who may have done this before.
