Best way to block Google Play

from sending junk mail on my cell Phone?
It's just a little irritating getting a message alert only to find out some stupid game Google Play wants me to download.

It is another app (usually game on my son's) that was probably free, or a free trial, and that MFR (of the game?) is probably advertising their other apps.

I don't think I ever had this issue until I installed some free game, and after noticing all the notifications (daily to weekly), I uninstalled it.

Try uninstalling all free games installing free-games one at a time until you start seeing the issue, one-a-week? This would be time-consuming, by trial and error, or you could google the game and/or check reviews.

I think if you upgrade to the paid version of your games, you may not notice the issue anymore.

(The best way to block Google Play might be a bit complicated for someone that doesn't know the application causing the notifications... but it can be done, but you would have to install all apps manually from then-on, after gaining root access to the device. There is always droid-wall, but I think that might be over your head, as ALL traffic is blocked by default, unless enabled I believe, and you wouldn't get updates to apps in the conventional way unless unblocking google play, but notifications might be probably running as a separate service anyway.)

No games, but other apps of course. I'll try to see which one it is. Thanks

I have only seen this with games, but I try not to install apps that I won't use since my 1st Android.

You are welcome, if it resolves your issue.

I have not seen this be the case yet, but in theory it COULD be an app that is preinstalled by the MFR/service-provider of the device...

I also agree the notifications are probably coming from another app, and not google play. But just in case, here's how to disable google play notifications:
          Go into Settings
          Tap on Device
          Select Apps
Select Google Play from the list
          Tap on Application Information
          Turn off notifications
