    Mouse keeps disconnecting and reconnecting

Its ****ING annoying....I can't play any FPS games or anything like that because it keeps cutting out. I can't isolate the problem. it just randomly disconnects and reconnects sometimes up to 10+ times in a row.
it seems to be triggered arbitrarily.

I've done everything i can think of:

    running win7

    swap mice.
disable power management of root USB hubs in device manager.
disable all startup services in MSCONFIG.INI to isolate services.
    swap USB ports.

I've googled the **** out of this issue and the above are the only solutions I've got.

My comp is from iBuyPower, and a buddy of mine that has a comp from iBuyPower has the same issue and he said he checked his event log after his comp started doing the same thing. he was able to just swap USB ports and that fixed the issue but it does notthing for me.

    Anybody got anything?

I never use USB anything if I have the option for a PS/2 variant.

Back in the day a USB mouse would try to play catchup, while you typed, so I stuck with PS/2 (Mini-Din) as it gets more attention, and if I recall correctly uses it's own interrupt rather than sharing one with the entire USB bus.

Try an known-good USB mouse and you can verify it is a mouse issue, or computer issue, and then finish trouble-shooting that way.
