    Need Security System Consultant

Ok folks, thought I would throw this out there and hopefully give a calgunner some work in the Ventura area (more specifically Ojai).

So, we are looking for some optimizations of a current IP Camera setup, four different physical sites, three servers storing video, and a pretty messy mashup of different technologies.

Largest Installation is 17-20 cameras, Axis, IQeye, running ONSSI on a dual xeon server, 4gb of ram 4 terabytes of storage on non redundant WD Black drives. Most affordable option at the time, bought them to prove a concept, would like to eventually Mirror them just in case.

Other servers are embarrassing, one is a file server pulling double duty for two cameras. The third installation is 10 cameras (I think, we have lost many cameras due to hardware failure over the years) running on a single xeon server, 2GB of ram and I believe a raid 5 software raid using built in intel raid software.

Anyways, my superiors are looking for a few different things:
    • Replace cameras that have failed with newer models, need higher resolution for identifying license plates and faces at distance in some places
    • Create an easier to access video system, possibly beef up server at one site to host all IP cameras.
    • Recommend software for storing videos and accessing them later, is ONSSI still considered good?
    • Optimize the Cameras on the network, motion settings, storage settings
    • Recommend a better solution for recording at night, we have had several thousand dollars in equipment stolen in the night. I like the idea of IR emitters controlled by motion control on the cameras, tape the bastards in the act while they think they are "hidden"

If you are interested I can be reached at 805-640-5857. I would like to fill you in on the background so you can have your ducks in a row on the conference call with superiors. They are honestly looking for someone with experience, we are a small team that is capable but need direction for replacing failed equipment and optimizing the current system.

    Thanks for looking,
    David

PM CGN'r "Yugo". I believe this is what he does.
Guns, dogs and home alarms. Opponents are all of a sudden advocates once their personal space is violated.

Why is it all the funny stuff happens to comedians?
