My wife has the S4 and I have the S3. I love these phones. I had heard that the Android OS was beating out IPhones.

Overall, yeah. I think Samsung's problem is that most people don't have a compelling reason to upgrade their phones every couple of years. It's not like you need a galaxy S4 to place calls, send messages, take crappy pictures, do some light web browsing, update facebook/twitter/whatever, and play some equivalent of angry birds when a galaxy s2 or any other model of phone from the past 3-4 years does the same thing.

Just a few years ago there were tons of people who didn't have smartphones, now those people are becoming a decreasing minority and some of them don't want a smartphone for one reason or another. It's a bit harder to sell phone upgrades constantly when the leap in functionality is minimal compared to going from a motorola razr to an iphone.

I have the S3, and even though the screen is cracked, it still works and I don't see ENOUGH of a reason to drop 400+ dollars on a phone to buy one out of contract. It works, and I just don't see enough of a difference between the phone I have, and the new little quirks and tricky things that it does. I will upgrade to another samsung though next time around.

Not as easy to convinces non iPhone users that they HAVE to get the latest phone every time one comes out.

Yep. Not all consumers out there are as cracked up about new products as Apple afficionado.

Newest generation of phones are not having nothing new to offer. I think the latest 2 crops of smartphones were pretty much maxed out in regards to anything radically new. Just a few more gimmicks, not worth upgrading for.

For me, upgrading from the EVO to the S3, was huge with flash player capability, and other internet browsing options.

Same here. A lot of my friends even went to the S4 from their iPhone 5.

Apple fan bois only upgrade to every phone out of status. Oh and the fact that apple misses a lot of features they want so the new phone has them.

I Have an S3, the feature bump From a chocolate lg, to a droid, then droidx and finally S3 was significant. My bro has the S4 and it has no real world benefits over my s3. If I paid $99 I would upgrade to it but its not worth anymore than that. Def not $200 they charge now with 2 year contract.

Plus the nokia lumia 928 with windows mobile is a much better phone than the S4.. and its free!

Android had its hay day. It still isnt easier to use or any better than the iphones. The contacts management sucks for businesses, gmail **** from 8 years ago pops up in all sorts of random input fields even after turning off contact sync.

I am not surprised that the S4 did poorly. Marketing doesnt sell phones. Nobody has to tell you that audi makes a nice car, or Bentley is what moguls drive...

The iphones sold themselves in the days that dumb phones were everywhere. Then android was a welcome break from the lame stream... sadly now I think people have tired of paying for internet on a phone they barely use.

Truly I wouldn't carry a cell phone if work didnt pay for it.

I'm still using my Droid X it works perfect for what I need it for and see no need to drop 600 dollars every year or two to have the newest shiny phone. I would have got the S2 but stupid samsung didn't make it for verizon I would have bought one and kept it to this day perfect size and features and still good enough.

The S3 and S4 are freaking too dam big, it's not a phone anymore it's practically a pocket tablet that can make phone calls.

My best friend has a I-phone 5 and my other friend has the S3 and the I phone blows the S3 etc out of the water. I hate I-tunes and all the crap apple pulls, I support android because I like the freedom to tinker with my phone and how I don't need a program to transfer my files, photos, and music etc to my phone. All I do is drag and drop like a flash drive.

What Samsung really need to do is get their heads out of their asses and make a true phone to compete with the I-phone. If you are their number one rival in flagship smart phones then construct one just as good if not better than your competitor. The hardware and software are comparable but look at the construction and materials used, samsung is cheap plastics and are not that refined. While the I-phone used better materials and you can tell the quality in the outer construction, I'd pay top dollar for a android phone built as nice as a I-phone.

When you are asking up to 600 dollars for a plastic phone that breaks more easily in drop tests when Apple can make it better for the same price I almost want to jump ship.

Plus for some reason android phones never hold their value to long like a I-phone those suckers are like Rolex's and hold their value even the old ones.

Good points. The htc1 is pretty amazing in person and its hewn from a solid piece of metal.

Also check out the lost and forgotten mini series from samsung. Nobody knows they exist but they great phones. S3mini and s4mini.

Im still wanting a blackberry 9700 with a small touchscreen and that faithful keyboard! One day ill start a project of loading android on one in my desk. Wonder if a vanilla kernel will work across diff processors. Probably not oh well
