So the electric company sent out notices today (note on front door and emails) that there will be scheduled power outage in my neighborhood one day next week (7AM to 7PM). This bothers me since the outage will be during a weekday so no one will be home, and the neighborhood thugs might start doing thing since they know there is no power. Although I do not have a home alarm, I do have security cameras surrounding the house. Im looking for a decent uninterrupted power supply that can support the security cameras and recorder. Since this is short notice, Ill be wanting to go to a near by electronic store (Bestbuy, Frys ....) to buy it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I was an APC dealer many years ago and they were truly the top of the line. I don't know how much you're looking to spend, but a quick look on Frys website has this 1000VA unit for $139:

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

I guess I should have mentioned my budget is around $250. And I realize I wont be able to keep the cameras on for the entire 12 hours of the outage but id like to do the best that I can.Comment

My recorders and cams run on 12 VDC.
No UPS necessary... an Optima blue top keeps 'em running when the grid dies.

Dude. A $250 UPS isn't going to run your DVR for 12 minutes never mind 12 hours.

Here you go: CyberPower 1500 for $150
The current price point is about 10 Watts per dollar for the consumer grade stuff. On the small business class you'd get about 2 Watts per dollar.
