New PC Build HELP PLS :)

Hey Guys, I know there are some tech heads on CG so please help me out.

Building a new system, specs below.

    i7 4770K
    Asus Z87-Plus
    Corsair Vengeance 16gb (2x8gb) DDR1600 CAS 10
    Corsair HX1050 PSU
    Asus Direct CU2 GTX 770

When the GTX is connected its power LEDS are all green across the board and the 1050W PSU should be more than enough to push the card, but every time the system boots I just get a black screen with the message "please power down and connect the pcie power cable for this graphics card"

I've tested with a 2nd corsair 850W PSU same result, both PS will boot fine with the onboard video or my older HD5870.

I'm leaning towards a bad 770 but just wanted a 2nd opinion before I RMA the damn thing.

Any chance I'm overlooking something stupid?

    Thanks!

"One 8-pin PCIe power connector and one 6-pin PCIe power connector are required for operation."

Are you sure you plug in both connectors?

edit: whoops that was for the msi but this one probably has 2 also

Yep, both the corsair PSUs have dual 8/6 pin PCIE connectors and modular space to run 3 way/quad SLI.

8 pin and 6 pin both connected, I even tried using their stupid included dual 6 pin to 8 converter and pulling power from a modular jack same result.

Both the 8 and 6 pin connector have red/green LEDs to indicate connection and both are lit green.

Uh oh that seems to be the problem probably a returned piece of junk card repackaged as new.

Haha yeah frys has pulled some shady stuff with parts, I got a coolermaster fan with the power cord cut.

But this card was factory sealed and still had the film covering the back plate and connectors.

Nice case big fan of Lian Li

Only thing I can think of and it is a long shot there is that second power connection on some motherboards that looks like a 8 pin video card power plug. I forget what it is called at the moment other then that sounds like a bad card

watercooling is the way of the future man. get a corsair closed loop dedicated to your CPU with some arc fans in a push/pull config. Its not even that expensive and a whole lot quieter and more efficient! you'd love it!

Troubleshooting before water cooling and overclocking. For now a 12 heat pipe cooler with dual 140mm fans will have to cut it

Max its def not the CPU power connector. the corsair PSU connectors are all labeled, 2 PCIE connectors with 6/8 pin jacks.

try turning off the on board video in the bios to avoid confusing your system which graphics card to boot from...

& check the cable from the PSU and it's end connectors are plugged in securely. if its a modular PSU, u may have a base cable disconnect at the PSU.

Tried disabling onboard same results. All connectors are secure, not using any of the modular outputs, the PSU has 2 dedicated PCIE 8/6 pin connectors. The modular 12v rails are for SLI.

It would appear there are only two power connects. One 6, the other 8.
                              From here.

The ASUS GeForce GTX 770 DC II will require an 8-pin and 6-pin PCIe connector, which is located along the top of the video card. There are small LED's that light up green and red, depending on if each has a solid power connection. There is also a small area at the end of the motherboard where users can directly monitor the voltage of the GPU, memory, and PLL voltage. In order to operate properly ASUS suggests having at least a 600W power supply. The rear I/O panel houses a dual-link DVI-I connector, a dual-link DVI-D connector, an HDMI connector and one DisplayPort connector.
What are you using for the monitor ? HDMI or something else ? It
does look like a card. Maybe go with the Nvidia version ?
