Home Alarm Sys, Arm/Disarm from mobile without monthly fee or locked sys?

So I am a few months out from my contract expiring with my alarm monitoring company and it seems that most companies want to get you an OEM branded system that is locked to them (as this is how they keep business after contracts, I assume, [and prevent resale?]).

It appears that most either charge a fee for the ability to Arm/Disarm the system from an Android, or lock said system to them preventing reuse with another provider so it has to be tied to that provider for the Arm/Disarm to function, and only through them and some tie-in...

Are there systems that can be Armed/Disarmed independent of a provider tie-in while you are still monitored, or is this more simple than I am aware of?

What is a system that supports WiFi Arm/Disarm as a starting point?

    Thanks!

Anyone ever installed one and plug in monitoring company info themselves?

Are there any systems that might have a web interface for config, or hell, even a cli that anyone here has used?
It appears that almost everything on the planet is configurable via a web-interface, aside from most security systems, even the big-names...

The neighbor's WiFi is an idea I have been tossing around (Enlisted Marine, and formerly Enlisted Marine on each side of my house, so they should understand my security concerns, and be willing to assist, and I would return the favor), but with if a Dual-Path (cell and WiFi) were both present (one as a redundant path), then I would guess that I would be okay, but a UPS in a hard to reach place with a few motion detect cameras in key locations, shorting a pair already wired to the system I have in place in place was my thought.

If power is cut at night, UPS's would beep me awake... currently.

My Foscam died soon after the warranty expired, and before I got my alarm, so I was unable to test the I/O Alarm wired-portion, and very little info on pinout is not from China.

UPS factors prevent grid-down power from becoming an issue for data-flow if the WiFi enabled router and cameras are also on one. A fringe-benefit at work is virtually-free UPS's galore (they have been decommissioned, and I just have to buy new batteries for them) should power stand-alone WiFi cameras for a LONG WHILE...

Thanks for the info on the safe-gadget, it might come in handy...

i read before that depending on your control panel, you just need the installer code to unlock it to do whatever you want with it. if you do some searching you will find some default codes but it depends.

other than that, not sure what can do what you want to do. will have to follow that though because our mobile monitoring is tied into the monthly as well, it'd be nice to save some bucks - but they do provide a slick app
