    Cable HIDEF problem

My Verizon system just started blinking/picture/snow/picture/snow.If I remove the HIDEF cable and switch to AV with tricolor cords between TV
and cable box still have all my channels but no HIDEF of course. At the same time my blu-ray player works with Netlix and You tube but there is no volume.
I tried new hidef cords but makes no difference. I cant see why the TV wont
stay in hidef--even after unhooking the bluray player. Cant understand why
the TV would suddenly give up and the bluray with no volume. Thanks for any help. Pete

Try cable box on another tv if possible to rule out that it is the cable box

Any chance your TV needs a firmware upgrade (if it is a Smart TV with built in Netflix and stuff). Very odd that your Blu Ray Player has no sound coming out of it as well.

Unplug power cables when both devices are on...
This should eliminate power issues after you plug them back in, and have seen this resolve VZ equipment issues after a power cycle of a DVR/STB and TV with VZ equipment attached.
I don't seem to have the same issues with DirecTV with needing to power-cycle this 1st month with them, unlike VZ FiosTV.

I did have an issue with a cheap TV, and it took forever to sync up HDCP with VZ's HDDVR. New TV synced up HDCP WAY FASTER.
Are you using the cable they shipped you with the STB? Could the cable be pulled and/or pinched (like a 90 degree angle on one device, and not the other)?

Try a different HDMI port on the TV in case someone pulled on the cable, tripped over it, or made it not as solid as it once was?

Thanks for the help, after some checking my actual HDMI port in the TV
itself is bad. (I only have ONE on this older set)By using 3 color cables and one red/white cable (for audio)
plugged into my cable box the HD picture is back with volume! The only
problem now is I cannot use the Blu-ray player with Netflix,Utube etc but
atleast the TV is still working fine,(I have another set with all the smart
          stuff hooked into it). Pete
