    Blu ray player connection

So I hook my HDMI cable from the TV to the player. What do I hook
between the Blu Ray and the cable box so I don't have to unplug the
Blu ray and plug it back into the cable box to watch regular TV? Pete

You don't have more than one HDMI input on your TV?

Are you sure there isn't a second input on the side or rear of the tv? HDMI switchers are available, but not commonly used.

Yeah cable box needs to go to the tv so an hdmi switch is needed if you only have one hdmi input. Does your tv have any other kind of input? Maybe shoot a photo of the back of your tv.

                    this...

$200 for a nice receiver at frys.

$500 for a good set of 5.1 speakers.

remember, video is just 1/2 of the equation. audio is the other half...

If using the component connections looked like 1960s then something wasn't connected right or not configured properly, or it wasn't component. Composite, maybe.

Component carries the exact same resolution capability up to 1080i, and in fact is capable of 1080p, but generally 1080p via component is blocked on commercial material due to high definition copy protection reasons.

... or less. I've got this one, and I recommend it without reservation. Of course now the HDMI ports on my main TV stopped working ... the bedroom TV it still works great, though.
