    POWER/ELECTRICITY QUESTION/CMOS...

ok, i've actually asked this question b4 but now i have new symptoms.
i have a 5 year old lenovo thinkcenter s10 tower, 3 video cards. big system.

when i turn the computer on in the morning the fans just spin but no POST.
before i would just turn off the the main power to the computer and monitors and then it would POST.

now, every morning, i have turn off everything, pull out the CMOS battery for 15 min, and THEN it will post. i don't think i've even had the experience of a CMOS battery going bad, but i don't know if that is the prob or not, but removing it and discharging all currrent/power, including the battery seems to be the only things that resolves the problems. quite interesting..

    any ideas?
    thanks in advance for reading!!!

Most motherboards have a way to telling you what might be wrong when it does not POST. Does yours beep or have diagnostic LED lights on the motherboard? Try checking those when it won't POST.

no evil lights. just fast RPM fan w/ nada. i have done extensive tests on the MOBO with lenovo's tools and found nothing wrong. it's really quite baffling to me.....but it's a "consistent problem". which is interesting.

don't know if there are other diagnostic tools i can run to check out just the MOBO or other components...

nothing points to it actually being the CMOS battery. the system keeps it's settings and does not loose it's time, so i'm sort of ruling that out
