    Video editing software???

I am looking for some software to do minor effects, music and pull still images from the video. Right now source is off my phone and will be getting a Countour +2 in the next week or two.

Any recommendations that is reasonably priced. Not looking for expensive Adobe, not making money off it. Just for fun.

Windows Live Movie Maker and iMovie were the two basic and possibly free or relatively cheap editing packages available. Should be able to allow you to do most minor changes. Not sure about pulling stills from them, but that's pretty common practice these days, so no reason why a recent version wouldn't allow you to.

    Good luck.

Sony Vegas Movie Studio is what you want. Easy to use, powerful and has almost the same features as its more expensive brother, Sony Vegas Pro. It'll run you less than $100.

Whereas the full Adobe program is big bucks, Adobe Premiere Elements is pretty affordable and does a good job.

Yeah, Sony Vegas Platinum comes with Sound Forge, nice products, I am a big fan, the only difference from Adobe Premiere is that the Adobe product seems more stable with a huge number of files involved.

As a professional ill vote for Avid (the academic vers can be found online for ~300), but I have heard good things about Sony Vegas and you can get Adobe Premiere via subscription now if you won't be using it all the time.

If its just minor stuff, then Windows Movie Maker will work fine. For more advanced stuff, Sony Vegas is good. For adding special effects, use Adobe After Effects.

Avid also makes Pinnacle and its less expensive. More on par with Sony Vegas.
