Posting about your Winchester in "Technology and Internet" forum is unlikely to get you any info that you need, and wasn't helpful either.
Have you tried posting in "Centerfire Rifles", or another appropriate forum?

fsck this, fsck that, and if this does not work, there is always:
"dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1M"
