    Dummy needs help

I have a 2010 HP Pavillion and a HP laser jet M1217nfw MFP printer. I was using them together on a wireless network and then no connectivity. I have had the printer for 1 year so I load the driver from the CD no joy can not load. I down load the driver from HP and I get an error NT 4.0 drivers blocked. I thought NT 4.0 drivers were old?

I am guessing so I disabled windows fire wall no joy My wifes computer talks to the printer and works well so I think it my computer.

Any thoughs or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am a user not a computer guy.

control p;anels can p;ing and recognize printer but not load the driver.

    Thanks

Delete/remove the current printer you have from your "Devices and Printers" folder. Just right-click and remove device.

Then right-click in "Devices and Printers" folder and choose to "Add a printer". There's also a "Add a printer" button on the top of the folder. Select to add a network printer and let Windows does its thing.

It should detect your printer, or you might need to enter the printer's IP address manually.

If the Add a Printer wizard cannot find a proper driver for you, the HP Universal Printer Driver. You'll find it if you google, download the correct version for your OS and it should work.

If you have Vista, there are issues with some HP printers. You may need to remove the printer from the registry before reinstalling.

Not something I would recommend to someone who isn't confident with their computer skills. You can do some damage editing the registry. Sorry this isn't more helpful.
