    Calguns web issues?

Is there a problem with the Calguns web page? I have been unable to get onto the site via my wife's web page. I was able to log onto other sites without issue. I guess it could be my wife blocking the site.

All freakin day it's been weird. iPad sometimes works, sometimes not, iPhone off and on. Couldn't connect directly but could by googling CalGuns and then clicking on the google result.

Seems that something is wrong on the DNS front.

Yes, something off has happened. It acted like poisoned DNS for the site .net and even at times .org was running aground. However I could resolve it to IP, it was more like a web server application issue denying forwarding once the "get" came in from me. Happened to me on multiple browsers (2 different systems) on multiple separate ISP networks with different DNS lookup servers.

The .org site right now has a thread with people not able to connect and getting the custom DNS error page. Something bad happened today on hosting.

This is what happens when "slow" finally gives up. Apache just basically shuts down, which kills MySQL and the whole forum goes down as a whole. It's a db issue not a client or browser issue and it basically stems from the same place the slow forum does, this is just the extreme of the same problem. This is why you can load the main page (calguns.net home page) fine, but as soon as you go to the forum, it's dead. Sometimes your datacenter will tell you "Oh we had a blah blah blip that caused a crash" basically blowing smoke up your ***, or sometimes they will tell you straight out that you probably need an upgrade.

You can fix it while it's crashed with either a hard reset (Pull the plug via datacenter) or an Admin can remotely dump apache/MySQL via SSH and restart them which will usually fix the problem. Obviously, it's a temporary fix to a problem that will just reoccur if the server is pushed too hard again.

I don't believe this is the problem specifically that is addressed by the kind of issues you wrote here. What you are writing about is certainly the kind of issues CGN has had at times. However this issue is still alive for many right now, and the forum is humming along fine - and has been. This seems to be another kind of issue with another set of symptoms.

wasnt a site issue, was a host issue. ping from almost anywhere outside of northern cal and you were fine.

I'm having trouble connecting to the site on 4g, but can get on it from my home/work wifi. The error I'm getting is

"Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED):Unable to resolve the server's DNS address."

Sounds like the server admins/forum admins need to look into why it cant resolve DNS.

Calguns.net's hosting company, GeoVario, has merged with Professional Edge hosting, this happened some months ago actually.

Today I received an email advising me of an update to the DNS settings to correctly point them to Professional Edge.

These will take time to propagate, hopefully this will be a smooth transition however if there are any issues this would be the cause.

If you can not reach Calguns.net on a Windows computer try opening a command prompt or DOS window and typing ipconfig /flushdns this should refresh your DNS settings and pnt them correctly.

My desktop cannot access neither CGN nor Snipershide via Firefox or Explorer. All other bookmarks loaded normally. The ISP is ATT in Orange County. Had to logon via TMobile on my Android device.
