how do I import pics and vids from my android to pc?

I'm trying everything and it wont load my droid at all. I've tried mounting it as a drive and it take forever to load it that it litterally doesnt do anything even when left alone and I tried just importing media but it wont work either.
Can anyone help me out? I want to back up all my pics and vids.
    Thanks
    Buy my EO Tech XPS3-0!!!

Download a file management tool for Android (I use ASTRO)

Copy the photo/vid files located on your built in memory to your removable micro memory card.

Remove the micro memory card, put it an a larger SD adapter, and put in in your notebook/ memory card reader.

You should have full and quick access to all folders and files on that drive.

If you are missing any of those critical hardware or software pieces, and you only need a few files, then from your phone's media viewer, SHARE them to your own email address over a WiFi connection.

    Good Luck!

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774_1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764

my galaxy S3 can appear to the PC as two diff ways.

        1. as a standard USB memory device.

        2. as an MTC mode.

most of the time, i just use #1.

if i'm too lazy i use my personal POgoPLug device to upload from phone and then download to PC..

My S3 does the same thing but cycles MTC first then USB.

Most of the time I just use ES File Explorer to transfer files over wifi but USB works fine. Over USB my S3 and the SD card just shows up as drives on my PC.

Copy them to a Linux box in the house with Astro via SMB/FTP...

I usually just use the phone as a reader plugged into the PC using USB mass storage interface.

the Dropbox client is pretty cool. it will automatically upload pics and vids to your Dropbox in a Camera Uploads.

It is selectable to upload via 3G or Wi-Fi. Pics will show up on my computer minutes after I take them once I have a Wi-Fi signal.

and by using the mobile client, you get additional free storage space as you upload. 3.5Gigs more IIRC

Google Drive or Google Plus apps are probably the simplest.

This is where the Windows Phone 8 (eg. Nokia Lumia 920) is pretty nice, pictures and files on your phone are automatically uploaded to Skydrive, and you can access them from any PC/tablets etc.

You might want to see if a similar app is available for your phone.
